Blackpool - Everyone OK

Hello Everyone

Just a quick post to let you know that we have arrived in Blackpool, and all are well. Some of you may have seen on the news about a fire in a big hotel in Blackpool. THIS IS NOT OUR HOTEL AND WE ARE ALL SAFE AND WELL!!!! Apart from that, no news really, due to play our next games this afternoon against Arnold School, we hope to see improvement again in both hockey and rugby. Results to follow.

CAMINO A BLACKPOOL

Hola a todos, les cuento que son las 9:20 de la manana, y en un par de minutitos nos subiremos al bus rumbo a Blackpool para llegar al colegio Arnold School (uno de los colegios que fueron a Concepcion).
Edinburgh es PRECIOSOO!, con muchas construcciones antiguas hechas de piedra y muy bien mantenidas. Ayer fuimos a ver un GRAN castillo que se ve como saliendo de una gran roca, aunque no entramos. Ademas, fuimos algunos a la national gallery que se exponia algunas obras de ANDY WARHOL!!!! demasiado bueno...increible la suerte. Tambien visitamos la catedral, conocimos un teatro de opera que se veia espectacular y por ultimo sacamos un par de fotitos con la javi en un parque muy verde con flores preciosas y tambien en las clasicas calles de Edinburgh.
En conclusion.... TODO DEMASIADO LINDO.
Ahora nos espera un viaje de cuatro horas...

Edinburgh

Enjoying Edinburgh, city and hostel very nice, went to visit the Castle, see the sights etc this afternoon before the big match this evening, COME ON ENGLAND!!!! Congratulations to the girls for yesterday, they played very well and deserved to win the tournament, always nice for me to see an English team win in Scotland! Boys were unlucky, some bad decisions from us in the games cost us, but we played much better and maintained an unbeaten record (1 win and 2 draws) in Scotland. Into England tomorrow and down to Arnold School, hopefully we can keep the winning feeling. Hope all are well in Chile.

HOCKEY: CAMPEONAS EN ST. ANDREWS!!!

Ayer en st. andrews en el madras college jugamos un campeonato de con equipos de diferentes colegios, en total eran 10 equipos. Estaban divididos en dos grupos. El primer partido lo jugamos y ganamos 1 - 0. El segundo partido ganamos nuevamente 1 - 0. El tercero fue contra madras college el cual nos estaba alojando, y empatamos a 0. El ultimo partido del grupo lo ganamos 4 - 0. Luego salimos primeras del grupo y nos toco jugar inmediatamente la final con el primero del otro grupo. Ese partido lo empatamos asi que nos fuimos a penales y alli fue donde ganamos 4 - 3. Nos ganamos una copa, pero lamentablemente esa copa no se va a poder venir con nosotros a Chile, pq nos pidieron que la dejaramos, ya que ha pertenecido a ese campeonato hace muchos anos, solo esperamos que el nombre de nuestro colegio sea grabado en ella.

Scotland - St. Andrews

Hola a todos les cuento que hoy dia llegamos a Escocia, al colegio Madras que queda en St. Andrews. Salimos de Belfast tempranito para embarcarnos en un ferry que era un tipo de embarcacion gigante muy bonito. Despues viajamos cuatro horas en bus para llegar a St. Andrews que es precioso, muy antiguo. Los alojados muy simpaticos, en sintesis todo perfect. Chao.

Brief update - Belfast

hello everybody

I am writing having enjoyed two excellent days in Belfast, which is a fantastic city. The two teams played today, girls losing 1-0 and not playing very well by all accounts and the boys losing again but a much closer game, one they can be much prouder of. Earlier today we went to look around various areas of Belfast, both Protestant and Catholic areas during "The Troubles" which was a real eye-opener for the all of us, a bit like Palestine I imagine just not so hot! We also went to the Parliament buildings at Stormont, good photoshoot there, Antonio and Mr Liscombe especially! The dry dock where the Titanic was built was also on the menu today and was another great experience for all concerned.
Weather been great so far, no rain, touch wood, however we're off to Scotland tomorrow where I am sure we will some wet stuff!!!! I am sure more photos and stories will appear on here very soon.

Belfast

Ya estamos es Belfast, llegamos en la manana, estuvimos un rato enel centro y despues nos juntamos con los gringos que nos alojan. Manana jugamos los partidos asi que pidan que nosvalla bien. Un saludo para Chile

Esta foto es en el estadio de Dublin donde fuimos a ver un deporte que solamente se juega alla. Si se dan cuenta, con la pilleria del chileno estamos adentro de la cancha.

partido hockey: wesley college

Jugamos a las 12.00 hrs en una de las millones de canchas que el colegio tenia. Partimos con mucho entusiasmo y actitud, de manera que nuestros nervios se convirtieron en una energia increible. Esto se demostro cuando, alrededor del minuto 20, Francisca Riquelme anoto el primer gol del partido. Luego de estar muchas veces presionando en su area se acabo el primer tiempo. En el segundo tiempo, hubo gran cantidad de cortos a favor, los cuales no fueron exitosos. Luego bajamos un poco el ritmo y lamentablemente nos metieron un gol en los ultimos 10 minutos, pero a pesar del resultado quedamos conforme por lo bien jugado y alegres por haber estrenado nuestro nuevo uniforme. Finalmente nos dieron almuerzo y el entrenador del otro equipo nos dirigio unas palabras: nos dijo que habiamos jugando muy bien, que teniamos un equipo muy fuerte en todo sentido y que eso se demostro en la cancha. Nos dijo que el equipo contra que jugamos habia salido campeon en una gira a Australia por lo que que tambien nos dejo muy contentas por que vimos que estabamos a su nivel. Fue un muy buen comienzo para nuestra gira.

Take-off

As we prepare to jet off to the other side of the world, may I take this opportunity to remind everyone that all posts are welcome; parents, siblings and other members of the school community. Messages of good luck, questions or just "touching base" to see how we are getting on. The best messages will be put on the school website for all to see.
